P2P Safety Guide

← Back to market

P2P trading lets you buy and sell crypto directly with other people. That freedom comes with responsibility. Follow these rules to keep your funds safe.

Tip 1
Always trade inside Pico escrow

Funds are locked in smart-contract escrow until both parties confirm. Never release crypto before you have confirmed receipt of fiat in your own account.

Tip 2
Verify the merchant

Check the merchant's trade count, completion rate and release time. Prefer verified merchants with a high completion rate and many completed trades.

Tip 3
Never pay outside the platform

If a counterparty asks you to send fiat to a different account, cancel the trade and report them. All communication should stay in Pico chat.

Tip 4
Watch for price too good to be true

Prices far below market often signal a scam. Compare the rate to the live market price shown on the home page.

Tip 5
Use the dispute system

If something goes wrong, open a dispute before the escrow timer expires. Our moderators review evidence from the in-trade chat.

Tip 6
Protect your account

Enable a strong password, never share your wallet seed phrase, and beware of phishing links sent in chat.
